Access Statement

There is a bus service in the village, but it is infrequent. Please check with us as to whether a bus runs that is useful to you.
The nearest train station is Craven Arms, 9 miles away and twenty minutes by car.
The local taxi service is Craven Arms Taxis and can be contacted on 01588 660448, or we can make a booking for you.

Reserved Off-road parking is available approximately 150 metres away.

Arriving by car, please park on the road outside Crown House, we will direct you to off-road parking later.
The front door to Crown House is at the top of 4 shallow stone steps, none more than 16cm high. This is just to announce your arrival, as the B&B cottage has its own entrance through the courtyard, which is on the level.
We will gladly assist guests with luggage.
The village shops and the two public houses are about 5 minutes walk from Crown House, down and then up a moderate hill.

The front door has one step 10cm high.
The front door is always locked, each guest bedroom having a yale key to the front door with the room key.
The front door is 72cm wide. The hallway is 90cm wide and 4m50cm long.
The flooring is commercial quality carpeting.
General lighting is good. There is a night light at the bottom of the stairs.
At the far end of the hallway, facing the stairs is a door through to Crown House. There is a knocker on the door to attract our attention.
The breakfast room/lounge leads off the hallway just inside the front door.
The shower room and the WC for the double bed room are also on the ground floor.
Stairs to the first floor are short pile carpeted (12 steps).
Stairs are 21cm high 21cm deep and 77cm wide.
There are round wooden handrails on both sides of the stairway.
Good colour contrast in hallway and stairway.

There are two steps each 19cm high into the room.
Room is short pile carpeted with a large rug in the lounge area.
Breakfast is served at one large refectory table. There are no legs at table corners, underspace is 71cm.
Armchairs in lounge can be moved if required.
We do not play background music in any area of the B&B.
Good colour contrast in décor.

Bedrooms lead off an area of one square metre at the top of the stairs. There is a step 13cm high to each bedroom.

Door to bedroom is 73cm wide, opening inwards.
Room size is 3m x 3m50cm.
Fitted short pile carpet on floor.
The divan beds can be made up as a double or twins, and are 48cm high.
One small chair is provided in the bedroom, and another in the bathroom, which can be moved to the bedroom if preferred.
Floor space between door and double bed is 1m20cm, when as twins 92cm.
When beds as twins, space between is 50cm.
Bedroom ceiling slopes towards the window, therefore when beds made up as twins there is not good access to the bed nearest the window from the window side. Access when made up as double is 52cm.
Free space at end of bed(s) is 2m65 x 85cm.
Good colour contrast in décor.

Width of door from bedroom is 77cm, opening inwards.
Free floor space is 3m50cm x 2m30cm.
Door to area for extra clothes hanging and luggage storage is 72cm wide opening inwards.
Fitted bathroom carpet on floor.
Bath has hand-held shower attachment.
Bath edge is 55cm high, with grab handles on both sides of bath.
Basin has slight curve on front, with clear underspace. It is 79cm high.
Toilet has right side transfer with one metre of available free space.
Toilet is 39cm high.
Good colour contrast of floor, walls, fittings and fixtures.

Door width is 64cm, height is 1m50cm, opening inwards.
Room size is 4m62cm x 2m80cm.
Fitted short pile carpet on floor.
The double bed is 56cm high.
Access between wall and left side of bed is 40cm. Free space on right of bed is 110cm. Free space at end of bed is 2m80cm x 2m50cm.
There is one wicker armchair with cushions and one small upright chair.
Good colour contrast in décor.
Shower room and WC are private, situated on the ground floor.

The paved courtyard is on two levels with flower tubs and pots. There are 4 steps to the second level each approximately 21cm high, 43cm deep, and 65cm wide.
Garden chairs are available on the second level.
There are 8 steps up to the top garden, each approximately16cm high, 30cm deep and 65cm wide.
The top garden has a lawn with flower borders.
Guests are welcome to use the garden and courtyard, but we ask that dogs be kept on leads here, and are not allowed to use the area for toiletting. There are many areas nearby, including Clun Castle grounds 200m walk away, where dogs can be exercised.

Mobile phone reception is very variable, depending on the provider.
We are a non-smoking building, smoking is allowed in the courtyard.
We can store medication/food items in our fridge (not available 24 hrs).
We are able to use both front and back doors to Crown House, and the front door to the B&B accommodation if necessary for evacuation. Smoke alarms are loud, but if you require assistance because of mobility or hearing impairment for example, please let us know on arrival, and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.
